LITW And Its Authors
Left in the West was started in November of 2004 by Matt Singer. It was, in a sense, a return to his original blog, which had existed originally at http://leftinthewest.blogspot.com/. After leaving blogspot, Matt joined Ezra Klein on a blog that was two of them. Eventually, they merged with Joe Rospars and formed Not Geniuses. Following the 2004 elections, Matt decided to return to LITW to write about issues pertaining to Montana and Western politics. And while it started out as a solo effort, along the way, he picked up a few friends.

Bob is a Montana native who now lives in California. He has also written for Swing State Project. He guest-blogged here mostly during the 2005 legislative session.

Daphne
Daphne was a Vermont student who helped fill in during Matt’s trip to China in December of 2004.
Gerik

In Montana, he was active with several initiative campaigns and will likely be playing a helping role in similar efforts in Oregon.

James Greer is a University of Montana college student who is outspoken on GLBT issues. He writes here, as well as at his own blog, the yardstick.
Jesse Piedfort

Matt Singer

He currently works for the Progressive States Network, but has been involved in multiple political efforts in Montana and nationally. He has worked with the Montana Conservation Voters as well as MontPIRG and is a founding member of Forward Montana. He briefly worked with Jon Tester’s Senatorial campaign. Nationally, he was the organizer of Dean Defense Forces, a grassroots media rapid response outfit. His writings have appeared in In These Times, Alternet, New West, and the Montana Kaimin.
Neal
Shane Mason
V
I am a University of Montana student, and my primary interests include law, politics, philosophy, and language. I have known Matt since junior high and he invited me to write here. I have been involved in Democratic politics since I was in grade school, and I am happy to share a more philosophical understaning of the liberal streak that we all share at Left in the West.
Wulfgar
Wulfgar has been blogging with his own streak of politics in Montana for a while. He’s probably best described as a fiercely-independently minded Democrat, not exactly a rare species in Montana. He help out here during some of Matt’s quiet times and continues to blog at Wulfgar’s Mountain View.
