Really Really dirty little man
by Shane Mason on 1:25 am.
OK, I have not seen this article, but I heard a radio ad for Tester where Baucus talks about it. Then tonight I saw one of the Burns commercial that started it all. I will summarize it here:
Burns and Baucus. Baucus and Burns. Burns and Baucus. Baucus and Burns. Baucus Baucus Baucus, so vote Burns.
Heh, you’ld think they were best friends. Not so, it seems:
HELENA - Democratic Sen. Max Baucus cried foul Friday over Republican Sen. Conrad Burns and the national GOP using his name in advertisements and fliers that suggest he backs Burns over Jon Tester for the Senate.
“I don’t like it,†Baucus said in a phone interview. “It misleads Montana voters and it implies that I don’t support Jon Tester. I strongly support Jon Tester. I think he’s the better man.â€
Baucus said Burns has ignored a letter from his chief of staff and a phone call from Baucus asking him to refrain from using his name in the radio ads, which have now expanded to television.
Talk about a sniveling little man trying to piggyback on another’s record! The central message is: “Baucus is a senator and you like him. I am a senator too, so you must like me.”
“It’s very misleading,†Baucus said. “I’ve raised a lot of money for him (Tester). I think he’s going to be by far the better senator. He’s honest, he’s hard-working, he’s smart.â€
That’s all Burns has left folks. “You like Max because he is a good guy, so vote for me. I think that Tester should take Maxes radio message to the TV:
“You might have heard ads from Conrad Burns using my name. Well, let me be very clear: I support Jon Tester. I believe in Jon because he is a straight shooter, a real Montanan and just a good guy.â€

Anybody with any sense can clearly see that Burns is pointing out the fact that Tester’s positions are extreme while Baucus’ is more moderate and voted the same as Burns on some very key and important issues.
I think it’s a brilliant move by Burns. Comparing Baucus with Tester and you clearly see the differences.
I can see that this is very effective which is why Liberals and Max are not happy.
Andy,
Anybody with any sense can clearly see that Baucus and Tester have far more in common, politically, than Baucus and Burns.
I truly look forward to your full support of Max in 2008.
Painting Tester as a “librul” is a childish and deceitful ploy. Admittedly, it’s the only chance Burns has.
I sear Andy, since you are so brilliant you should get your own blog. Folk will line up by the thousands to hear your little snippets of wisdom. What? You do? They don’t? Huh.
Let’s look at what you said and why you are too easy for anyone but Coobs. This is very clearly the case of a failing republican candidate trailing in the polls trying to piggyback on the much more popular Democratic Sr Senator. But, the senior democratic senator does not like the republican jr senator. Note this from their last elections:
Baucus: 63%
Taylor: 33%
That’s show Max as a pretty popular dude. And Conrad?
Burns: 51%
Schweitzer: 47%
Not nearly as popular, eh? Mind you, Scweitzer went on to become our Gov. with approval ratings in the 60%.
Now, Andy you make this too easy, but I am going to do it.
Does it seem so brilliant that he pulled Max into the election? He gives an in for Baucus to say things like:
That comes from a man who holds a string sway of Montanans. Nope, this is as brilliant as the rest of Conrads campaign tactics, like cussing our a bunch of hardworking firefighters.

Hmm, I do believe a smell a whiff of desperation in the air.
Everyone is predicting that even if the Dems take the house (sigh) the senate is still a repub lock. So Tester (outside of Montana) is just a fart in the wind, so to speak. I have this to say additionally. Republicans just win, if they keep either house amidst all of the scandal talk and negative press, proving that the dems dont control the issues, just the media. If Pelosi is the next speaker of the house, it may be just enough to make even Mansfield look competent.
Ah, now here’s a wonderful argument: let’s leave in an old incompetent corrupt fool and not elect a smart principled man who is actually in touch with Montana, because you’ve gotta stick the majority. I take it you support dumping Rehberg then, if and when the Dems retake the House?
And you know the Republicans have all but given up when they would consider a 14-seat loss in the House a victory. Pretty much the same logic that lets you claim great progress in Iraq, yes?
Pelosi!
Boo!
Democrats!
Boo!
Democrats will eat your puppies!
BOO!!!!
So, uh, Jake, who exactly is “everyone” that is predicting a “repub lock” in the senate? Pretty much every poll I’ve seen has the house all but a “lock” for the Dems and the Senate as a toss-up. Examples.
Rassmussen DEM 47 REP 48 TOSS-UP 5
Pollster.com: DEM 49 REP 48 TOSS-UP 3
Congressional Quarterly: DEM 48 REP 49 TOSS-UP 3
Hittin’ the kool-aide a little hard there buddy. I hope you’re not driving.
He may “support” Tester, but he votes like Burns.
Uhm, can it get any clearer than “I think he’s going to be by far the better senator. He’s honest, he’s hard-working, he’s smart.”?
I will break it down for you:
1. Baucus thinks that Tester will be a better senator than Burns by far because:
-Unlike Burns, Tester is honest
-Unlike Burns, Tester is hard working
-Unlike Burns, Tester is smart
There is some overlap in Burns and Baucus. However, there is more overlap in Tester and Baucus. Still, that isn’t the point. The point is that Baucus endorses Tester and thinks that he will make a ‘far better’ senator. One reason? Oh, maybe a man who want respect a request like this has no integrity:
Is that integrity? Nope, that’s a sad sad little man grasping at straws.
